Yedil Medeu leaves the Central Securities Depository

Starting from September 1, 2026 Yedil Medeu completes his work at Central Securities Depository JSC (KCSD) after being member of the Company’s Management Board more than five years.

Yedil Medeu joined the Central Securities Depository team in June 2021 as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board. His responsibilities included strategy and business development, depository operations, risk management, international cooperation, and communications. He headed the Central Securities Depository since March 2025.

During his tenure, KCSD expanded its international and regional links, increased its client base, and successively automated key recordkeeping and clearing processes.

By the end of the first half of 2026, compared to the beginning of 2025, the volume of assets under custody in local instruments, excluding government holding of shares has increased by 45%, while that in foreign instruments has increased by 16%. The number of brokerage accounts in the KCSD recordkeeping system reached 5.6 million. By the end of 2025, the Central Securities Depository’s net profit exceeded 2 billion tenge for the first time, with a profit margin of approximately 20%. 

Since the beginning of 2022, the number of foreign securities issues under depositary services has increased by 367% and reached 1,584. The number of financial institutions in the client base grew by 141%—to 128 institutions from 11 countries—and the share of non-residents and AIFC participants exceeded 62%.

KCSD has expanded its network of direct inter-depository and correspondent relationships with global banks and depositories of the United States, the Gulf states, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Tajikistan. This has expanded KCSD clients’ opportunities to trade in local and foreign financial instruments.

In addition, the Central Securities Depository continued to digitize its recordkeeping and clearing processes and began developing new areas of business, including custodial and crypto-custodial services, providing qualified tax intermediary services, and collecting data and maintaining registries of holders of digital financial assets.
